Play in the Clay Studio will be having our 12th annual Empty Bowls Sale and Luncheon in collaboration with Dothan Cultural Arts Centre and Wiregrass Food Bank. We will be selling over 500 bowls made by community potters to raise funds for the Wiregrass Food Bank. The event will take place in early February 2025. Check back for more details soon!
The Empty Bowls Dothan project was founded by our studio’s Resident Potter and local artist, Lynn Koning. Past Empty Bowls Dothan events have been featured in local news articles:
- Empty Bowls Dothan to benefit Wiregrass Area Food Bank
- Empty Bowls event raises money to fight hunger
- Empty Bowls aimed to assist Alabama food bank
Volunteer to help us make bowls!
We’re inviting local companies and organizations to join us in creating bowls for our upcoming Empty Bowls Sale in early 2025! Lynn will lead your group through a one-hour hand building session where you’ll craft your own bowls using clay slabs. Decorate your bowl with whatever inspires you, using textured rollers and tools. No prior pottery experience needed.
After you leave, your bowl will be fired in our kiln and glazed by our studio members so that they’ll be ready for the Empty Bowls Sale. We invite all groups to come back in February and buy a bowl during the Empty Bowls Sale to support our local food bank.
To reserve a time slot for your group, please contact Lynn by phone or email us at Play in the Clay Studio. We look forward to crafting with you and contributing to this meaningful event!
